Now that you’ve received your scale, it's time to get everything set up! This scale will help you track your progress over time as you partner with Signos to achieve your health goals. The Signos scale uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to determine your weight and overall body composition. So what is BIA, and how does it work? BIA is a method of measuring your body composition through the use of non-invasive, low-voltage electrodes. These electrodes send pulses of electrical currents and assess how much resistance is required for the current to travel through your body. Measuring the amount of resistance distinguishes how body fat, muscles, and body water are distributed in your body tissues and is widely used to determine body composition.
Follow these steps to get started tracking your progress on your Signos scale:
Step 1: Ensure you have everything you need
The scale package you received should have included the following:
- 1 – Signos T2 Smart Scale
- 4 – AAA batteries
- 1 – Quick start guide
Additionally, your Signos scale utilizes bluetooth and wifi to record your logged entries. In order for your scale to function properly, ensure that you have the following in place:
- A 2.4 ghz network only
- The Signos application with Bluetooth enabled and wifi logging
- Wifi and/or Bluetooth turned on and connected
Step 2: Power on and set up the scale
The smart scale requires standard 4 AAA batteries (do not use rechargeable batteries). Please install the batteries into the battery slot, and the scale will turn on. Once the batteries are installed, you can step on the scale to measure your weight and other body composition.
To get started, you’ll need to connect your scale to the Signos app and your home wifi network.
- Open your Signos app
- Go to settings and select Smart Scale
- Follow the on-screen instructions
Step 3: Collect your first measurements
There are two options for syncing data: you can record weight with your app open (via Bluetooth), or with your app closed (via wifi, if you’ve connected the scale to your network). The scale will first check for Bluetooth connectivity, and if Bluetooth is not available, then it will use wifi. The preferred method of connection is wifi. Once you set up your wifi connection, it will remain connected over time regardless of your Bluetooth connection, and you will not need the Signos app open.
Using the scale with Bluetooth
Instructions:
- Open/unlock your phone (your phone must remain on for the duration of the scale measurement process)
- Open the Signos app and keep it running in the foreground (meaning you can see it on the screen)
- Place the scale on a hard, level surface. Step on the scale to wake it up, and get off after the numbers flash 3 times for about 1-2 seconds.
- Step on the scale without socks
- Once you see your heart rate, you can step off the scale. The scale will continue to display your body composition metrics. (This process lasts about ~15 seconds)
- The scale will send weight data to the logging section of your Signos app
Using the scale with Wifi
When you use wifi for the scale you do not need to have your phone or the Signos app open.
Instructions:
- Ensure you are connected to your WiFi.
- Place the scale on a hard, level surface. Step on the scale to wake it up, and get off after the numbers flash 3 times for about 1-2 seconds.
- Step on the scale without socks.
- Stay on the scale until all the metrics cycle through. You will know the cycle is complete when your BMI is shown on the screen.
- Once you see your heart rate, you can step off the scale. The scale will continue to display your body composition metrics. (This process lasts about ~15 seconds).
- The scale will send weight data to the logging section of your Signos app.
