Below are some tips that may help you keep your sensor on for the entire sensor session.
If you are struggling with irritation from the adhesive, you can check out this article or contact Signos Support at support@signos.com.
CGM tips
- Store your CGMs in a cool, dry place (between 36°-86° F)
Getting your site ready
- Site: Biosensor site should be flat, clean, and completely dry before you insert the biosensor. There should be some fat under the skin at the biosensor site.
- Extra adhesive: Put additional adhesive over the patch before applying the overpatch. Let dry.
- Avoid hair: Apply the patch to areas without much hair. If needed, shave the site.
- Old adhesive: Remove any adhesive residue from previous biosensors. Consider using a body oil or adhesive remover (such as Uni-solve, Detachol, or Tac Away) for skin.
- Gentle exfoliation is recommended for oily skin
- Do not use any lotion or oil-containing moisturizer where you insert the sensor.
General consideration
- Clean skin with oil-free, antimicrobial soap and dry thoroughly
- Do not insert the sensor immediately after a shower/bath or in a steamy bathroom. Minimize humidity with a hairdryer or application in a dry environment.
- Solid or spray antiperspirant (unscented) may help with sweating-prone skin. Apply the antiperspirant to an empty oval on the skin and wait 10–15 minutes. Then, insert the sensor on clean skin in the center of the oval.
- Run your finger around the white adhesive 3 times once the sensor is placed to be sure there are no air bubbles and the adhesive is fully stuck to your skin
- Press down gently on the top of the sensor for 10 seconds to help it set
- The longer you keep it dry and sweat-free in the first 12 hours, the longer it may stick to your skin. When it gets wet, gently pat it dry as soon as possible.
If you're a swimmer, runner, or just someone who needs a little extra support for your biosensor, we've got you covered with various options for patches, tapes, and liquid adhesives.
Adhesive patches or tapes
You can apply additional adhesive patches or tape over the Stelo adhesive patch or the Signos overpatch.
If you’re using one of these products, we suggest that you:
- Cut a hole in the adhesive patch or tape to fit over the biosensor, or
- Cut the adhesive patch or tape into strips to use ‘‘picture frame’’ technique around the biosensor adhesive patch.

Cloth-like patches:
|
- Precut to fit the biosensor - Flexible and breathable - Excellent adhesion even when wet - Bright colors and fun shapes |
- Similar materials to kinesiology tapes and may be stretched or cut |
| Hypafix® |
- Thicker, fabric-like adhesive than transparent films - Can be cut to size - Excellent adhesion even when wet |
- Excellent staying power and thickness |
| Transpore™ Surgical Tape | - Clear, porous, plastic hypoallergenic tape | - Comes in a tape roll, best used as a supplement to counteract a peeling patch |
| IV3000 (Smith&Nephew) | - Thin transparent film | - Not breathable, may peel with sweating or if water gets under |
|
Nonadhesive wraps:
|
- If you’re unable to tolerate additional adhesive, wraps are an alternative that help keep your biosensor in place |
- Wrap loosely, and do not compress skin with elastic wraps - Remove during nighttime to avoid tissue compression - Consider for short-term use—during sports, activity, etc. |
Liquid adhesive agents
Liquid adhesive agents can also be used with the biosensor adhesive patch.1,2 If you're using a liquid adhesive, we recommend that you:
- Create an empty oval on the skin with the product, let it dry, then apply the biosensor on clean skin in the center of oval. We suggest creating an oval so your biosensor does not go through the liquid adhesive. If you apply your biosensor through liquid adhesive, it can affect its accuracy.
- Once the overpatch is applied, apply the liquid adhesive onto the overpatch fabric and let dry
