Food vs. Meal
Foods are individual items from our food database. If a food is not in our food database, you can create a custom food to log that food in the future. To create a custom foo,d follow these steps:
- Go into the meal log
- Create your custom food
- Review and save your custom food
- Log a custom food in the future
Meals are a collection of foods. When you log frequently, you may notice that it can be tiresome to log individual ingredients repeatedly, especially when you eat a similar meal often. We have made this process easier for you through custom meal creation. This allows you to create and save meals for easy logging over time. To create a custom meal, follow these steps:
- Go into the meal log
- Create your custom meal
- Review and save custom meal
- Log a custom meal in the future
Creating a Custom Food
Step 1: Go into the meal log
Go into the "Log" tab of the Signos app and select "Log your meals" or the plate icon.
Step 2: Create Your Custom Food
- Select the “Custom” section under meal logging.
- Create Custom food: Enter a name, serving unit, and number of servings for your food. Then select "Continue."
- Add nutrition: Enter calories, fat, carbs and protein for your food. All other fields are optional. Then select "Review Food."
Step 3: Review and save custom food
Click "Create food"
Step 4: Log a custom food in the future
This food can now be logged by selecting it from the "Custom" menu.
Create a Custom Meal
Step 1: Go into the meal log
Go into the "Log" tab of the Signos app and select "Log a new meal" or the plate icon.
Step 2: Create Your Custom Meal
- Select the “Custom” section under meal logging.
- Select the "Meal" tab.
- Enter a name, and number of servings for your food. Then select "Continue."
- Add a description of the meal. Then select “Continue.”
- Add Foods to meal: Select any foods to add them to your custom meal. Then select "Review Food".
Step 3: Review and save custom meal
Click "Create Meal"
Step 4: Log a custom meal in the future
This meal can now be logged by selecting it from the "Custom" menu.
